A Midsummer's Night Dream- Round 1

This evening we went to A Midsummer's Night Dream at the Globe. We were groundlings and thus stood in the area right in front of the stage. Although the play was 3 hours including interval, the play went by quite quickly. Perhaps Shakespeare's best known comedy, A Midsummer's Night Dream is witty, ridiculous and had some dancing, singing and outrageous characters. It was easy to stay engaged as we were so close to the performers and they would wander into the audience. There were also some cool acrobatic skills, one guy did a backflip, another did a back handspring, and a third climbed  a pillar. The acting was all dramatic and this was enhanced in the final play within a play scene. This was the first Shakespeare play that we have seen in the time period it was written in. Next week we will see it again, and I expect it will be quite different. This one is set in the 1930s and 1960s. Should be exciting. We also will be seeing One Man, Two Governors, and MacBeth. Should be a very cultural week.
