Posing in Pisa

Thursday night I was talking with other people in my hostel and they recommended going to Pisa. It is only an hour train ride away and I decided it would be worth doing. On Friday morning, I went to the Medicci Library and Palace which were both really beautiful. From there, I went to Santa Maria Novella; however, because of the holiday I could not go into the church. I grabbed a quick sandwich and then met Mollie and we got on a train to Pisa.

The train ride to Pisa was exceptionally amazing! It was very iconic and Tuscan.

Once we got to Pisa, we walked to the Tower. On the way, we walked past a quaint market and got gelato (I got dark chocolate and caramel). It was perfect weather and so we had a leisurely stroll to the main area of Pisa. It was easy to find and once we found it we sat down on the grass to enjoy the people watching. This was one of my favorite places of all time. Everyone was so happy, giggling, laughing, and feeling downright ridiculous as they tried to take pictures. We joined in the fun and took some pictures. It was difficult to get the angles and perspective right. In involved lots of "Go forward a bit", "now tilt your hand", "make your hand flatter" but we got some good pictures out of it.

This just didn't work...

After getting our fill of pictures, we went to the Monumental Cemetery which was really pretty. Finally, we went and got a delicious sandwich and had a picnic on the lawn by the tower. I wish I had more to say, but it was all just wonderful and lovely and it was the perfect last day in Italy.

Once we got in Florence, we met up with Eleanor and went out to dinner. We went to another aperitivo where we had lots of Tuscan food and drinks (I got a Bellini). To finish the night, we went back to our hostel where we all hung out until 2 am. The other people who were at our hostel were really fun and came from so many different places (Poland, Japan, South Korea, Boston, California, etc.). It was truly the perfect day in Italy and made me really sad to leave!
