Wow, I have done a horrible job blogging this past week! It has been crazy busy with one presentation, one project, two papers, and three finals! Thankfully I only have the project to finish and one final to take!
Last week on Friday I went to Bristol. The field trip was required for an economics class (I am not in it). We went to Bristol because it received the Green Capital of Europe 2015. There was a lot of talking and lecturing but we got to see a different city and take a boat ride. Not sure I would recommend it as a fun vacation destination, but given that it was free, it was interesting to see another British city.
On the tube back, someone mentioned going to Captain Phillips at the IMAX. The movie was playing at 9pm and it was already almost 8pm so we all raced home to buy tickets online and eat dinner. We were having difficulties buying tickets online so we chanced it and raced to the cinema, transferring trains twice, practically running through the tube, you get the idea, madness. We arrived at 8:58 and were able to buy five tickets next to each other in a good location. The movie was great! It is based on a true story of Somali pirates and seeing it in IMAX (Britain's largest) was fabulous. After the movie, Thomas commented that all of our faces were hilarious during the movie, we all got so immersed in the movie!
On Saturday most of my flat was gone so I was able to relax, watch TV, Skype home, and do some homework. In the evening, a lot of Grinnellians came over and hung out. On Sunday I went to the teaching site and worked on homework from 11 to 6. Not the most fun day but it was productive and I got stuff done.
This week has been all homework and studying and tests. On the bright side of things, I made tacos last night for dinner, with guacamole and all. I really felt extravagant, and compared to my normal bowl of tortellini, it was!
I am done with my classes for phase one so that is quite exciting! Now, we are trying to plan fall break and pick places to eat, see, etc. It should be very exciting but right now it is a lot of stress as well.
I may try to blog once more before I leave, but if not, see you in a week. I may have internet while there and if possible, I will post briefly.
