So, I tried Five Guys, in London

Well, yesterday was an exhausting day! We started the day with a walk to the Aldgate tube station for history of London. Kate was leading which meant we walked at a 4.0 mph pace (Emily had to jog at points to catch up, it was that fast!). It was only 2 miles away, but we took a wrong turn and thus walked 2.5 miles before class even started! We had to cover a lot of ground for class, covering most of White Chapel (one of the poorest areas in London). From there, we hopped on the tube and went to the Imperial War Museum. We went to the Holocaust exhibit which was fascinating and yet incredibly depressing. We spent over two hours there, and the entire class was emotionally drained by the time we left. By this time, I was tired, and in desperate need of lunch so I splurged and got myself a burrito and a pop by school. The disadvantage of going to school in central London is that I am surrounded by expensive places but I was hungry (it was 1:30) so I did not dare walk a mile for cheaper food.

After neuroscience we walked home, had a quick dinner and then walked to the theatre. We saw A Midsummer's Night Dream again, but at a different theatre. Unfortunately, this performance was not as good as last week's. The acting was mediocre and it was set in this strange hippie forest and ambiguous city center. None of the Grinnellians seemed to enjoy it, but the crowd seemed to. Furthermore, it had really good reviews by the telegraph so perhaps we were hurt by having seen a spectacular performance the week prior.

After the play, we walked past Five Guys and since I had never had Five Guys, I apparently HAD to eat there. We stopped and grabbed a burger and it was actually really good. Who knew?! It made for a nice end to the night and it is always fun to walk home with the city lit up.

Tonight we are seeing Macbeth at the Globe Theatre. I hope that it is good, but having been disappointed last night, I do not have my hopes as high. Regardless, it will be fun because of the environment among the groundlings in the Globe.

I decided to map out my day on google maps. I realized that you guys would not understand that, so I drew on it using paint and hopefully this gives you a good picture of my day!

(The order is Pink, Red, Turquoise, Purple, Light Blue) Unit in the corner is 1km.
