Mac//Beth

Yesterday was another typical day of Irish literature. We discussed several of Joyce's short stories in Dubliners. In the evening, Meredith and I went to a ballet of Mac//Beth at the Royal Opera House. We had bought tickets months ago (crazy to think that I have been in London long enough to say something happened months ago!) so I was quite excited for the show. The show was not a classical ballet like I imagined it would be and was much more lyrical dancing, some acting, and lots of walking around stage. It kinda reminded me of some of the synchro teams that just swim around a lot and do not do much actual swimming. Regardless, I enjoyed the music and it was an interesting performance. We were there on opening night which was kinda cool but I was not a fan. Here is the Guardian Review.
The set was plain with three sheer curtains and these three triangular blocks that got moved. The screen played various images throughout the performance.
My favorite thing that they did were the lifts with the one woman (Lady Macbeth).
Tomorrow at 5am I am leaving to go to Paris! I have a map, a guidebook on my tablet, and that is about it at the moment. I have to pack soon but it's only 10!
