This morning, Kate and I went to the Marylebone Farmers Market. It was a nice sized farmers market in a posh area of town near Oxford Street. We got some potatoes (that had dirt on them) from the farmer, brussel sprouts, carrots, and other veggies. We also tried some cheeses (mostly goat cheeses) and some apples. The apples were all different varieties than home but the farmer let me try all of the varieties so I picked one sweet one and one that he described as sometimes tasting like hazelnut. Not sure I would call it that, but it was good and different so why not? I then got a loaf of rosemary focaccia bread and a cinnamon roll. The cinnamon roll was more like a sweet roll and it was delicious. I tried the bread when I got home and it was super good, with lots of rosemary and flavor!

I got a cinnamon roll here (Left basket, right side in the middle) and it was amazing! |
In the afternoon, Eleanor took Sara and I to tea (her family friend treated us!) at Fortnum and Masons. We dressed up and even wore heels! The tea was quite posh and nice. I had a delicious pot of tea and we had a full tea. The sandwiches were delicious! Although I am normally not a fan of cucumber, salmon, or egg salad, I actually really liked the sandwiches, probably because of the delicious breads each was served on. We then had the scones which had a delicious strawberry jam, and ended with a lemon puff thing and a chocolate raspberry cupcake. It was so nice to have a relaxing (2 hr) tea and just hang out and chat. Eleanor had requested a window seat so we had a wonderful seat for people watching. The store across the street had suits on sale for 399 (they used to be 1200-1275) so it was a real bargain!

This week will be really fun as London is starting to get really festive and Christmas lights, markets and decorations are popping up all over the city. Official lighting ceremonies have begun and take place throughout November and holiday markets will also begin to pop up. Today, Kate and I saw a marching band on the street, lights and ornaments hung throughout the streets, and fake snow being blown. It is really fun and makes Kate and I very happy as we sing Christmas songs in November. We have decided that since we leave 10 days before Christmas we can start celebrating 10 days early. Also, since there are so many markets and places to go to, we must start early!
